Last month I was determined to enjoy fall in Wisconsin, especially during peak season, so I did a lot of planning. Before we could make it out to Door County (stay tuned for the next blog post that will highlight that adventure), we stayed overnight at Green Bay, WI. One place in particular that I wanted to check out was the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary.
Granted that this place would still be a beautiful place to visit during the summer, I especially loved this place during the fall. Their trees were very vibrant with lots of red and I'm a sucker for a good red tree in the fall. Since many of my friends and family are down in Miami, FL and don't get to enjoy the seasons, I wanted to send a little fall their way. I was able to pick up a couple of bright red leaves from this park, preserve them at our hotel room, and sent them off to my friends and family down south. Thankfully most of the leaves were able to keep its red hue.
One amazing feature of this park is their waterfall. An absolutely must to check out. Instead of talking about how amazing this place is, how about I show you?

As you can see from the last photo above and the first photo below, there was a vibrant red tree right above the infamous waterfall at this park. It was stunning to admire and everyone should make sure to visit this place during the fall for this beautiful view.
In addition to the beautiful landscape that this park had, they also had wildlife! Not only is this place a park but as the name reflects, this is a wildlife sanctuary. They had rescued bobcats, a mountain lion, wolves, foxes, as well as plenty of ducks and Canadian Geese. While we were roaming the trails, I could hear the howls of the wolf pack in the distance. You first hear the leader howl and the rest of the wolves follow in an echo. It was both fascinating and eerie to experience. Beautiful animals nonetheless. As much as I love seeing many of these animals out in the wild instead of in an enclosed space, their stories all reflect the same: most have been "imprinted" with humans for either most of their lives or at a very early age and would not survive out in the wild.
So, I took advantage of the opportunity and practiced my photography skills in capturing these beauties. And yes I couldn't resist capturing an adorable chipmunk eating his nut. No matter how close you got, he could not care less of the world but was content with life as long as he had his nut. 😂
I encourage you to visit this wonderful location at Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary if you are ever in the Green Bay, WI area. Definitely worth exploring during various times of the year. I hear this place is also beautiful during the winter months when everything is covered in snow and ice. So go out and explore and see what adventures you find.
